Dear Little Angel,
Over half way there, in less than two weeks we will all be together again. I can’t wait. You are growing and changing so fast. Mommy just put up new pictures of you. You look so pretty in your Sunday dress in your Moses basket. You are all stretch out with your hands up, asleep, in true form. You sure do take after your mommy. She would have probably slept with her arms up to show off her pretty new bracelet when she was little too. Your mommy is good about getting the pretty details noticed in pictures. She sure has collected and made a lot of nice things for you, even though we don’t have a lot of money. Nevertheless, mommy has been resourceful to supply for you and to dress you so adorably.
I have a terrible amount of work left to do tonight and it is already late, but the pictures that mommy put up of you reminded me of a Bible story that I want to tell you. Maybe mommy can read it to you for a bedtime story tomorrow night. Besides you in the pretty dress in your Moses basket, there are also pictures of you doing the back float in the bath tub. Mommy says all she does is hold your head and you just float away. I wonder if all babies can do that or are you just aquatically gifted. Well, you may have already put it together who the story is about, if pictures of you floating and you in your “Moses” basket reminded me of it. That’s right, Jonah…no just kidding, Moses.
God had brought his chosen people, the descendents of Abraham, whom He promised to make a great nation, to Egypt during a famine. That happened in the story of Joseph which we will come back to when we talk about finding a good boy to date in about 20 years. Anyway, Abraham’s descendents had multiplied to A LOT of people. The king of Egypt was worried about them taking over so he decided to kill all the boy babies, but Moses mommy put him in a basket and sent him floating down the Nile River. The Princess found him and wanted to keep him. She asked Moses’ sister who had be secretly been keeping an eye on him if she knew of anyone how could nurse him. So Moses went back to his mommy, but was going to be raised by the Princess in the palace when he was old enough to eat regular food. God eventually used Moses to lead the people out of Israel to the land that he had promised them.
God has a special purpose in mind for you, just like he did for Moses. Some people call it the will of God for your life. I was always scared of missing the will of God for my life when I was growing up, and then I spent a lot of time “trying to find” it. One day it occurred to me that I was a little messed up in my thinking. Lillyonna, the will of God is that you come to know and love Him, that you love others, and that you keep yourself from doing bad things. If you can really focus on loving Him, that means you will be trying find out what he wants you to do. The Bible says that if we trust the Lord and look to Him for guidance, He will put desires in your heart and help you as your pursue them. If you are giving God priority, you can be confident about pursuing your dreams because the Bible says that He put them there.
It will be exciting to see what kinds of plans and dreams God puts in your heart. Mommy wanted you to be born in the US so that you could be President if you wanted to be. I don’t know if that will be your desire or not, but just always know that we want to help you with whatever it is that God has in store for you. We are planning to raise you to reach your full potential of what your heart will desire. Lilly, it is sometimes hard to believe that you are really here. I have been waiting a long time for you. I can’t imagine having a more perfect little baby. You definitely take after your mommy. She is an amazing person. I miss you both and am counting the hours until we are together.
I love you forever,
